The new Madoka Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten movie will be produced by returning Japanese animation Studio SHAFT. The event also featured announcements concerning anime like Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night, Fate/Grand Order, Magia Record Season 2, and even Demon Slayer Season 2. More details about the new Madoka Magica movie were announced during Aniplex Online Fest 2021. It’s possible that the 2021 Magia Record Season 3 will function as a setup for the events of the new movie. However, Magia Record Season 2 brought back the original three characters. The exact story hasn’t been summarized yet. The tagline on the key visual states, “Now, let’s continue the story.” It’s also been confirmed that the new movie will be a direct Madoka Magica sequel to the 2013 film, Puella Magi Madoka Magica Movie 3: Rebellion.
